From Wind Farm to Desktop: Swancor Regener’s Recyclable Materials Help the Terrazzo Glow Stand Win a 2026 Wonder Global Design Award
October 08,2026
For more than twenty years, wind turbine blades have turned in the wind, delivering a steady supply of clean electricity. But once they are decommissioned, does the journey of these materials simply end? Swancor Regener’s answer is no: they can have a second life.
LVZM Legends Corporation recently combined Swancor Regener’s recyclable resin with material from decommissioned wind turbine blades to create the Terrazzo Glow Stand, a phone stand that was named a Winner at the 2026 Wonder Global Design Awards (WGA). The award is an honor for the design team, and it also shows how retired blades can find their way into everyday life.

Retired Blades: More Than Construction Filler
Wind turbine blades are made of glass fiber composites. Their strength and weather resistance are exactly what make them so difficult to dismantle and process at the end of their service life, a challenge the wind industry has long faced. Today, most decommissioned onshore blades are shredded and used as construction filler. The Terrazzo Glow Stand opens up a new direction for this material: shredded blade material is incorporated into resin, giving these discarded resources new value. Rather than disappearing into building structures, it becomes a desktop object that is part of everyday life.
Recyclable Resin: Circularity Starts with the Material
The resin used in the piece is Swancor Regener’s recyclable resin, bringing circular thinking into the design from the very beginning, with the choice of material. LVZM Legends first casts colored resin “stones” and breaks them into fragments, then adds wind turbine blade fragments during a second molding process. After repeated adjustments to the mix ratio and molding conditions, followed by careful polishing, the result is a vibrant, terrazzo-like texture. Every fleck of color on the surface records the process of material regeneration, making each Terrazzo Glow Stand one of a kind. Its clean geometric form balances function and aesthetics, while the durable resin structure allows the piece to remain in use for years to come.
Making the Circular Economy Visible
For Swancor Regener, recycling is only the beginning. The real value lies in circular materials being used, trusted, and loved. This collaboration with LVZM Legends shows that decommissioned wind turbine blades, combined with recyclable resin, can go beyond industrial applications. They can also become everyday objects that people keep on their desks and use every day.
Congratulations to LVZM Legends on this well-deserved recognition! Swancor Regener will continue to invest in the development and application of circular materials, working with partners across industries so that green energy can go further and last longer, from power generation through decommissioning.
